Camera / Webcam not on device manager list - Windows 10

HI there,

I have an HP Envy with Windows 10 and can't seem to get my webcam / camera to work.

It is not listed on the Device Manager list.

    I have this issue on an Asus Zenbook UX362FA**.**

    The first machine I purchased must have had updates installed, as there was no camera available when I first set the computer up.

    A replacement machine had the camera working (I checked before I left the shop) , however it went away when I ran Windows Update.

    No device listed, no drivers available from Asus. I reinstalled the OS to factory defaults, and camera came back, working fine. I have now installed the Windows Update Blocker to prevent the camera from disappearing again, and having to reset my entire PC, including software and personal files. No Updates are installed.

    I would like to know when it will be safe to turn on Windows Updates again.

    Just to update.  I had to return my laptop to the manufacturer, who ended up putting a new motherboard in as they said everything was integrated (webcam/usb/etc.).  They had tried to get the offending update removed originally, but I think it was just easier for them to replace everything than waste time!

    Had to reinstall everything which takes forever (and I'm still doing so!!).

    Very disappointed with Windows and Microsoft.

    This is absolutely ridiculous! I just got off a chat with Microsoft which took me through several diagnostics, only to come to the conclusion that Windows has been corrupted and must be re-installed, which will wipe everything off my laptop! I can't do that right now! This was poor planning, Microsoft!

    I performed the items listed in the first reply post and now the camera is completely gone and not in the hidden device list either. That was definitely not helpful for me. How can i find the correct driver? I have an HP Envy x360.
