Intel Optane(tm) Memory Pinning: Unable to Load DLL

Whenever I open Windows Explorer of select  a file in Explorer, I get the following error message:

Intel Optane(tm) Memory Pinning

Unable to load DLL

'iaStorAfsServiceApi.dll': The specified module could not be found.

(Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007001

Windows Explorer

I am running Windows 10. This only started after the last Windows 10 Update.

I have a DELL Laptop

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750 CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.21

This is a very annoying message.

Can anyone assist?

Hi Andrew

There does seem to be a conflict between the recent update and Intel Optane

Open the old Control Panel, go to Programs and Features

You should see a specific Intel Optane Software Component. Uninstall the Optane software

Restart your PC

In maybe a months time, go to the support page for your system on the Dell website, then download and install Intel Optane, they should have resolved this bug at that time . . .

    I have another issue, any possible advice?

    Have WIN 10 PRO (version 2004, with all the updates) and Office Professional 2019 on an Alienware Area-51m laptop, which is 11 months old. (NO games at all in my machine.) Another member asked if I had or have Office 365 - the answer is NO.

    When I open any of the Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) the opening starts with a small window stating Office 365 vs. Office 2019. In addition, the top formatting (ribbon portion) looks different.

    This change occurred when doing the last WIN 10 Pro update 2004. Tried doing a System Restore and it did NOT work. Tried it at three different restore points and it did not work - wow...

    UPDATE: July 23, 2020

    Without doing a darn thing, the system went back to the original Office Professional 2019! This is great, but Why? How can it revert to the original program without me doing a thing?? 

    Any clues?

    Very easy:

    GO TO SETTINGS; APPS  and FEATURES; scroll down till you get to INTEL OPTANE PINNING PINNING EXPLORER EXTENSION; CLICK; THEN CLICK ON MODIFY!! Do NOT click UNINSTALL !

    This worked for me!

    Try this BEFORE you uninstall anything as many other reviews are stating that you must uninstall Intel Optane first.

    This super easy fix worked for me and is posted in the Intel website.

    On WIN 10 GO TO:

    1. SETTINGS
    2. APPS and FEATURES
    3. Intel Optane Pining Explorer Extension
    4. Click
    5. Click MODIFY !! DO NOT click uninstall.

    While you click modify, pay attention cause IF YOU SEE A FLICKERING, that means it worked! What it does is adding the "missing link".

    This worked for me, hope it works for you all.
