Hi Andrew

There does seem to be a conflict between the recent update and Intel Optane

Open the old Control Panel, go to Programs and Features

You should see a specific Intel Optane Software Component. Uninstall the Optane software

Restart your PC

In maybe a months time, go to the support page for your system on the Dell website, then download and install Intel Optane, they should have resolved this bug at that time . . .

    I am curious, Robin,

Did my fix, which worked for me, worked for you? This issue my brother also had and he fixed it following the above steps.

Let me know if it worked for you, thanks.

    Take care and be well.

No, this problem did not ever reappear again, once it was fixed following the steps I've outlined above.

    Good luck!

    Andrew,

I had the same identical issue as you described, which occurred after version 2004 update; I also had a Dell laptop.

Hope the following helps for you, so GO TO:

    1. Settings,
    2. Apps and Features,
    3. On the right hand side look up for "Intel Optane Memory Pinning",

        a) DO NOT click "uninstall",

    1. Click on "Modify" and wait a couple of seconds,( pay attention to the screen),

        a) By clicking "modify" a fast flash in the Apps and Features window will occur, that means it worked,

    1. Close "settings" and you are set!

This worked for me as I also spent an inordinate amount of time searching how to fix this annoying issue.

    Good luck!

PS:  IF it does NOT work, then try to uninstall "Intel Optane Memory"  and re-download/re-install.

BUT, before you do this!... make sure you know were to find this driver!!!

I did not have to do this :)
