Update to Windows 10 1903 requires updated Intel Rapid Storage Technologies

After receiving the notification, I updated my Dell Inspiron 5000 series with an update from Dell.  This update installed successfully as indicated:

However, the file that is blocking the Windows update, iasota.sys, is the old version that was present before I updated RST (note that other iasot*.sys files are newer):

Any idea on what can be done to workaround the problem?

Is the iaStorA.sys file obsolete and no longer needed now that the RST driver has been updated?  If yes, should I simply rename the file to iaStorA.old and attempt to update Windows again?

Do newer versions of Intel RST still use the older iaStorA.sys file resulting in the Windows Setup not recognizing that a compatible version of RST has been installed?  If yes, then do I have to wait for Microsoft to modify the Setup program so that it assesses RST compatibility by looking at something other than the iaStorA.sys version (e.g., the iaStorAC.sys version, which is the file that serves as the driver for the I/O SATA AHCI Controller?

    The post says rename iastora.sys.  It is only referring to that one file..

    I have tried the solution above but it still did not work on my system.

    I was only able to rename three of the four iaStor*.sys files. The Sysinfo

    report shows iastorac.sys was started and could not be renamed.

    I ran Device Manager and right clicked on properties of the SATA controller listed.

    It shows another driver is being used.

    I created an image gallery so anyone can take a look at the screen captures

    showing what I looked at.

    The bulletin mentioned in the copy of Greg's post in the blue section above says that Microsoft anticipates a solution will be available in mid-August.  I do not know when the solution will be ready.  If you do not feel confident about renaming the files and downloading the drivers, I would wait for Microsoft to resolve this issue.  The new features in version 1903 are not critical so there is no harm in waiting.

    I suggest that you try to install 1903 in September.  If you are successful, then Microsoft solved the issue.  If you get the same message, wait a few weeks and try again.

    This bulletin just came out yesterday about this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/451415... I guess those with IRST were gated until now.

    The windows notification says you do not need to do anything now.  So is the solution going to come through the windows update eventually?  I have read about the solutions such as renaming the files and downloading the drivers, but for people who are not so savvy it gets a bit confusing.  Should we wait for the updates to come through the windows update process?

    You could probably boot to the Install Media and use the Command prompt to find and delete or rename the .old.sys.  The last three letters are the file extension, it should have been just iastora.old.
