OMG, I think the updates have been my problem all along. I don't know why this could be but I manually did the updates as you'd suggested I do a few times Gary & I'd skipped for some dumb reason. The first time it just seemed to be stuck forever doing them
saying PLEASE WAIT . . . .
I waited on it for 20+ minutes and then gave up and hit the back arrow. Later on I tried it again and this time must have started where the first time left off and it only took 5 minutes and then it suddenly started showing that gears churning icon of installing
updates.
I let it finish and then it restarted very slowly as it installed stuff, I guess, and it even started up in that WELCOME screen that I always see with Resets and WDRT - No Restores. After that, I could let it fall asleep and then wake it up with the Power button,
as should be how if works but hadn't been working.
I just left my phone plugged into the PC and on, totally thinking that when I came to see it in the morning, it would be dead as it always has been recently.
But, NOT THIS TIME!! YAHOO!!
I guess I should wait to celebrate until I unplug it from the PC and use it, try attaching a Photo to a Text, an Email and Post on m.facebook.com, none of which I could do yesterday.
Gary, you'd asked me for what the OS and Firmware versions were. I realized that it tells me those sometimes on the WDRT so here it is. Sometimes it listed something weird like BootMgr for one of them but since I never PrintScreened that, I don't know which
one it was. I'm sure you'd know but it really doesn't matter to me.
Firmware version 01078.00053.16236.35035
OS version 15254.15254
You also told me to look on the update page to see if the phone is waiting on action from you. It wasn't. I'm just started immediately looking for updates and saying PLEASE WAIT . . .
I tapped More Options just below that and it was mysteriously set to the lower one of Notify When Updates Available so I changed it to Automatically Install (recommended) but that's how it was now set. I'd swear it hasn't ever notified me of update availability
and I've seen it doing big gear churning updates in the middle of the night.
Makes no sense that one of these WDRT things, even when I've been checking "No Restore" would then have that set that way to something that Microsoft doesn't think is "Recommended".
But oh well. Wish me luck.
