2 days ago i upgraded my windows 10 to build 1903 , since then ,

randomly and during any activity (gaming , watching a video ..etc) ,

screen with the word "locking" in the middle appears for half a second and my laptop goes into sleep mode

and then i have to turn it on again

this never happened before the update , i tried to reset and fresh start but, nothing worked , and now i can't get back to previous build

what do i do ?

HELP , PLEASE

SOLUTION

Hey guys

So, I solved the issue (for me, at least) a long time ago but forgot to report back. My apologies

Basically,

Settings -> power and sleep -> additional power settings -> change advanced power settings -> battery

Then, change critical battery action and low battery action to do nothing both on battery and plugged in

I don't know if others already solved the problem In a different way, but i Hope that helps

Have a good day

    Hi all,

I hope everyone read this reply,

    1. I too have a new hp laptop and it also started when i updated windows and bios, my laptop is nearly a month old, specs are ryzen 7 3750h gtx 1660ti.
    2. tried all the solutions but none of them worked for me, contacted hp support they told me to do a factory reset using their cloud restore, did that but got stucked with another error leading to no os installed in the drive, went to service center, the guy there installed windows 10 1803,
    3. now the problem is still there but the locking comes only once! when i press the power button after locking screen, the game resumes from that point and the laptop doesnot goes to locking again,
    4. i think this proves that the hardware is fine and this is a software issue indeed, i just wish they could provide the previous bios version ASAP.
    5. if someone could do the same as i did and report back then it would be helpful for the others too.

We have the exact same laptops here. Both of them are only just a couple of months old.

HP have been absolutely useless, and just sending us in circles with the only "improvement" being it now only does it once a day (hardly ideal).

They appear adamant it is not an issue with their BIOS but from reading all these comments, I strongly suspect it is.

I am going to add this chain as a response to my very long winded FB messenger chain I have with them currently.

oh yes, I noticed that too, so its not a hardware issue after all.  I was looking forward to a cooling pad bcuz i thought it was due to overheating

I have a solution I bought new battery and it resolves everything if your screen shows locking it means your battery loose all its potential to hold  charge more than 20,10, or sometimes 0 percent I would suggest its better to buy new battery
