2 days ago i upgraded my windows 10 to build 1903 , since then ,

randomly and during any activity (gaming , watching a video ..etc) ,

screen with the word "locking" in the middle appears for half a second and my laptop goes into sleep mode

and then i have to turn it on again

this never happened before the update , i tried to reset and fresh start but, nothing worked , and now i can't get back to previous build

what do i do ?

HELP , PLEASE

SOLUTION

Hey guys

So, I solved the issue (for me, at least) a long time ago but forgot to report back. My apologies

Basically,

Settings -> power and sleep -> additional power settings -> change advanced power settings -> battery

Then, change critical battery action and low battery action to do nothing both on battery and plugged in

I don't know if others already solved the problem In a different way, but i Hope that helps

Have a good day

Normally I would be following this thread and aware by now it is a trending issue to escalate it, however they recently moved me to another "Independent Advisor" unit that stops getting notificaitions when it times out there.  So I am thankful that you brought it back to my attention and I will be researching it now and moving to escalate it soon.

What I need in the mean time is to know the results of those still suffering from this of following the steps in my first post here for unexpected Suspends, and also in your new thread here System goes into hibernation for no reason - Microsoft Community where I gave Sleep troubleshooting steps that could also reveal important clues.

    Additionally try the steps here:

I had LOCKING problem as described very early in this discussion, and noticed the post that advised removing the battery. By this time I was very frustrated as the machine would only stay up a few seconds at a time so getting to any diagnostics was almost impossible.  Even getting to safe mode took many restarts.  Anyway, I removed the battery and that seems to have solved my issue.  Many thanks to all that posted and I hope something works for you all, as it did for me.

Same issue here with random brief "Locking" message on blue screen before hibernating/sleeping.   Have to awake again with power button.

    • Asus Netbook  (weeks old)
    • Windows 10 Home Ver. 1903  Build 18362.657
    • Started happening while trying to remove Lock/Unlock feature from WD Passport ext.    drive.  Frequency increased to just minutes (3, 5, 15) after erasing drive with WD Unlock interface and formatting.  (Don't know if it has anything to do with the issue, but that's the activity I was performing when it got a lot worse (frequency of minutes)  ).  Note: I had experienced a previous isolated occurrence days before, that occurred after the initial insertion of the WD Passport drive (Non-SSD).
    • Started disabling some of the Power settings eg, What closing lid does, etc.  Problem persisted.

Only after disabling all the power settings I could, including "Advanced" options, I have been able to go hours now without experiencing any brief "Locking screen" with accompanying hibernation/sleep action.

I did though, experience signs early on (on about three different occasions) that made me feel  it was about to happen again.  Quick, momentary blanking of screen.  But no sleeping/hibernation!!

I hope these details are of help.
