2 days ago i upgraded my windows 10 to build 1903 , since then ,

randomly and during any activity (gaming , watching a video ..etc) ,

screen with the word "locking" in the middle appears for half a second and my laptop goes into sleep mode

and then i have to turn it on again

this never happened before the update , i tried to reset and fresh start but, nothing worked , and now i can't get back to previous build

what do i do ?

HELP , PLEASE

SOLUTION

Hey guys

So, I solved the issue (for me, at least) a long time ago but forgot to report back. My apologies

Basically,

Settings -> power and sleep -> additional power settings -> change advanced power settings -> battery

Then, change critical battery action and low battery action to do nothing both on battery and plugged in

I don't know if others already solved the problem In a different way, but i Hope that helps

Have a good day

    Heya Greg!

I am getting the EXACT same issue as Coonboss. I recently got a new external monitor (I have always just used my laptop screen) and I am essentially using my laptop as my "box". Whenever I start up a game, within minutes of being in a game i get a flash of the locking screen then my laptop goes in to hibernation. I have never had this issue before and oddly it didn't happen at all on the first 2 days I had my monitor but now it is happening every time with no fail.

When I have my laptop lid open but the screen off I don't get this issue and my laptop doesn't go into hibernation.

I have a feeling this has something to do with g-sync. my laptop, external monitor and laptop screen are all g-sync capable, I could be wrong though.

I am just trying to figure out why all of a sudden this issue is happening with the external monitor i just bought but didn't happen for the first 2 days of my using my monitor and now all of a sudden it happens every time without fail specifically while gaming but weirdly not while in the menu, only while actually playing the game. I haven't had the menus open long enough to say for certain it is only in the game.

    Regards

    Sourdough

Thanks for your reply! So I've gotten everything to work when the laptop is open connected to the monitor but the issue is when I try to close the laptop shell. I have disabled hibernation in the power options but it is still doing the same thing. Any suggestions?

You can run this PSU calculator to get an idea if yours is powerful enough:

    http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

Also, Locking is also the message now given for Hibernating.  You can try turning off Hibenation to see if that helps:

    https://www.groovypost.com/howto/enable-hibernate-mode-windows-10/

If so then some of these fixes for Hibernation might help:

I have a compact Intel NUC box (i5 16GB/512GB ) and this has been happening with my computer lately. I had no idea, thought this is a hardware issue. But today after it turned off next time and I restarted it, I saw the BIOS message saying that it was shutdown due to high temperature/overheat. Moved the box to the more ventilated place and seems solved this issue.
