2 days ago i upgraded my windows 10 to build 1903 , since then ,
randomly and during any activity (gaming , watching a video ..etc) ,
screen with the word "locking" in the middle appears for half a second and my laptop goes into sleep mode
and then i have to turn it on again
this never happened before the update , i tried to reset and fresh start but, nothing worked , and now i can't get back to previous build
what do i do ?

So, I solved the issue (for me, at least) a long time ago but forgot to report back. My apologies
Basically,
Settings -> power and sleep -> additional power settings -> change advanced power settings -> battery
Then, change critical battery action and low battery action to do nothing both on battery and plugged in
I don't know if others already solved the problem In a different way, but i Hope that helps

I have this happened today 2 times.
In my case (Surface pro 4) it happened due to high temps.
So I can see I get a Kernel-Power Event ID - 88 "The system was hibernated due to a critical thermal event.
Hibernate Time = 2020-10-12T03:48:48.254969300Z
ACPI Thermal Zone = \_SB.PCI0.LPCB.TZ03
_HOT = 327K"
which turn to event 42 "The system is entering sleep. Sleep Reason: Thermal Zone"
So I just wanted to share that was the issue for me, which caused the "locking" screen and then sleep.

Double check your Power Plan settings while on Battery, including Display, Sleep, Hibernate, and hard drive timeouts:

Same thing happened to my computer for the first time yesterday and it happened few times today but I didn't have any updates. I realized that it doesn't happen when it is plugged in.
