Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

I have the same problem. Trying to import to OneDrive from an external hard drive. It freezes when I try to choose import all or new ones. I can only import manually and that is too tedious with photos ranging back 10 years.  I was hoping for a fast solution.

    ********* SOLUTION **************

Before we go there, some words!

I understand corporations better, I am part of it! So, I get it that Apple and MS (or any BIG company of any era) are rivals, dont like compatibility, loves monopoly, loves money even more, will go to any extent to keep us in their own eco system.

That's just fact of life. That's okay.

That said, I blame MS and its incompetent Photo team for this freezing issue.

I can not go into details but this issue is squarely on their idiotic OneDrive backend technology and its interaction with another idiotic Photo app (that little malfunctioning decade old code that never for total refresh, never)

Now, The Solution. Its very EASY.

On PC, Go to "This PC" and look for your iPhone ( or any portable storage device/camera for that matter)

    Right Click on THAT phone/device

    Select "Import Pictures and Videos"

Select "organize" Or "ALL", whatever you want for your situation.

(Optionally, select "more options" to select specific folder and auto Prefix name/tag)

Select "Import" when you are ready!!

:) Enjoy the life and blame Microsoft and its incompetent resources for wasting that much of our time.

Is there a way to import directly from my phone so it sorts in the months like it used to? Just mm/yy without the days?
