Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

    Thankyou for the suggestion Laocoon, but annoyingly it didn't work, I am still need to transfer my SD card and IPhone files manually using file explorer. Not all that happy, as all i want is a programme that will transfer the latest files from an SD card or IPhone to my computer to a directory of my choosing. Photos seems to have too many bells and whistles and has become unstable.

    This is a lot of steps to fix a windows app. Since i purchased a product with software and hardware i shouod be able to just plug in my cable and transfer pics. Jeez this is so trying.

    Samsung camera and  canon SD card- can't load photos - tried a couple of the forum recommendations to no avail-

    Will MS forward a fix?
