Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

Does anyone know what's causing this issue and how to fix it.

    Have you tried Reset?

Settings -> Apps -> MS Photos -> Advanced -> Reset

I have done this and now I don't experience any problems except initially when I plug my iPhone in and it comes up with the screen telling me to 'try again'. I click that a number of times and it then finds all the photos. From there I pick the latest ones to download.

The downloaded ones are located on my PC and not in the Cloud. RESET does not delete those photos off Windows 10.

As said above, I did a scan CCleaner and that fixed it for me, go figure.

Well, I'm going to have to walk back what I said, CCleaner seems to have fixed some features but still crashes, sorry about this. It may be a clue though as to where the problem might be.

If I plugged in my camera to import photos off of as soon as I checked the first box to pick a photo to import, the box would turn grey with no check mark.  When I ran CCleaner the check boxes started working but in a few moments it would hang with the little progress donut spinning and then just go blank .
