Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Did this do anything to your existing photos on your PC? It didn’t delete anything by hitting the reset button?

I have had this problem several times, and reinstalled, reset, etc windows 10 photos to no avail.

When I tried to do this with same iphone, on another computer and got the same problem i realised the issue was with phone not PC.

There was a particular photo or video on the phone that was causing the problem.  When i manually deleted that photo the Windows 10 photo app was able to import.  

If the app is crashing when reading all the photos in then there was no way to detect the problem photo.  I manually imported all photos off the phone and then deleted photos off phone, which most won't want to do.

If you can get to the select photos part and then it crashes you can select photos a few at a time to see when it hangs and skip that photo.

It is not an iPhone only issue. I have had it with all my Android phones with three different Windows 10 computers.

To try to fix Photos app Reset and Repair Photos app at Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Photos app > Advanced Options. Your pictures will be safe in the User Pictures folder.

If this was caused by Windows Updates then you can check which were installed at Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update under Installed Updates, then uninstall them from the link there, and hide with the Hide Updates tool downloaded from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

You can also use System Restore to get before the problem began, then check for Updates with the Hide Update tool and hide them: http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...

If nothing else helps you can try a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringing it up to the latest version 1903 which you need anyway and by the most stable method. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m.... There are improvements in Photos app in Version 1903 so I would do this without hesitation.
