Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

Unfortunate to have to say:  I've also posted Numerous times in this thread,

and I'll confirm that yes,  there has been some sort of change[s] made to the GUI of the Photos App.

Apparently,  they can waste the time to polish a turd,  but,  it's still a festering turd none the less..

Last night,  I literally backed up then deleted every single photo from my Galaxy Note 8..

This morning,  I took 1 photo,  and then captured 1 screen shot..

Out of curiosity,  I tethered the phone,  the Photos App auto-ran,  searched the device,

and of TWO 'photos',  somehow found a few over 400.  Ummm  Okay?!

    I clicked to import..  Nothing!

Then I tried the drop-down bar..  The 2 choices were something like:

'import photos since last import'  &  'import selected'.

That's as far as I was able to proceed..  The f**king app froze Yet Again,  rendering it Useless - As Usual.

I waited and waited and waited,  and was just about ready to do a CTRL/ALT/DEL Program Force-Quit,

when the Photos App finally decided to commit suicide and disappear by itself..

    UnF**kingReal..

It's too bad there isn't a 'virus' that was engineered to dirt-nap everyone associated with Microsoft..

    Sam -

Exact same issue that I have. I thought it was me...I tried over and over. I don't see any answer yet. I usually just insert my card from the camera and everything works. It starts importing (although it imports everything even though should only be new) but then totally freezes and I have to back out. So frustrating. I thought maybe it was the year change..I don't know..very frustrating.

I read this on another feed and it worked for me the two times i tried it.  I have an iphone 7 anx a hp laptop. On your iphone go to settings - camera - format then change it to most compatible. Hook it up to your computer

Photo app will come up. I had to hit the cancei button  before it freezes. the second time i did it i used the import button on the top. Good luck
