Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

Hello , i was having this exact issue, and i have seemed to figure a way around it.

So, your iPhone or other device would want to connect automatically to the one drive on the Microsoft account. But what you will want to do is click cancel before it finds all of the files and exit the one drive tab at the bottom of the screen and open your files of your computer.

The one drive had a max storage of 5 GB ( at least on my account ) which was not enough for all of my pictures.

So using your files on your computer is probably a better bet . I just dragged the photo files from my iPhone to the pictures on the computer.

I have the same issue except it's not with a phone.  I'm inserting the memory card from my camera. I just bought a new computer with Windows 10.  I was able to upload my photos a couple of times but as the number of photos increased on the memory card the photo app froze.  I miss using the photo upload program on Windows 7.  Actually I miss all of Windows 7!  I didn't buy a new computer to feel like it only partially works properly for what I use it for.   Any new fixes since this post is about 6 months old? Is there any way to download an old version of the Windows photo program to the new computer?

That is not a solution but an alternative work-around.

I WANT TO USE THE WINDOWS PHOTO APP as it is intended to work!
