Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

Same issue with 4000+ photos. I've found a bad workaround #1 - move about 100 photos at once, reconnect USB and again. It takes a lot of time, that is why it is bad workaround.

    Workaround #2:

At Iphone: Settings - Photo -> Download and Keep Originals

It will stay original format HIEC and transfer it to windows PC "as is". Also I don't have any issues while cut and past media from iPhone to PC via Windows Explorer. (at workaround #1 I saw error "Error Moving File or Folder: A device attached to the system is not functioning")

Download HIEC to JPEG converter to PC (I used iMazing HIEC converter https://imazing.com/heic) and convert all images at your PC

It takes less time then workaround #1

    Hope it helps!

I've had the same problem. Apparently there was not enough space on my iPhone for the Photos App to go from the freeze screen to the next screen where you select photos and videos to Upload to PC. Resolved by deleting heavy apps and videos from my iPhone that I did not need.

Glad you had some success. But I don't think that is the problem of most here. I have 256GB with a2a GB free. If the process does not work with that amount of free storage then it has a serious problem.
