Its been several years and i still have the same issue. I’ve given up. I just email what i need now days but check once in a while to see if it is fixed and it never is.
Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

2020-01-21T04:29:16+00:00 I have the same problem. It appears some of the files in my iPhone that Windows 10 thinks it is bad file. Instead of Photo Import, I opened Windows Explorer to This PC, right click Apple iPhone icon on the right panel, choose Import Pictures and Vedios. I was able to import most of files except those Windows say it has unknown problem, and there is option to ignore these files.

2020-01-21T15:37:25+00:00 Have you tried to change the import to Original? if so i would try using a cloud backup to save those that don’t backup to a local drive.

2020-01-21T18:49:12+00:00 Same issue here for me. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S9 and my wife has a Galaxy S8. Same issue of freezing when trying to import photos from both phones.
I have reported the issue on several occasions over several months to Microsoft with no response. Beyond annoying.
Can anyone recommend a viable alternative that has the same functionality?
