Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

For anyone still experiencing this issue, specifically when importing from an iOS device to Windows 10, go into your iPhone's settings;

Settings>Photos>Transfer to MAC or PC (At the bottom)

Make sure this setting is on 'Keep Originals'.

I was having an issue where the photos app would only import 1-3 photos successfully and then "something went wrong" would appear. Apparently there is a conflict between what the iOS device is trying to export the photo as when it's converting it and what the Windows 10 Photos app is expecting to import.

Common sense and process of elimination point to one thing -  

Microsoft / Windows is the root of all our our problems here! 

I'm writing this on 1/3/2020  and this issue has been persisting for over a month now.. 

Phone:  Android Galaxy Note 8,  PC:  ASUS ROG / Windows 10 [All w/ newest updates]

*I've also tested this w/ a Galaxy S5 & S7  so we can rule out phones completely*

Initially, the PC stopped beeping / recognizing the phone when it was plugged in.. 

Finally,  they would recognize each other, but, the "Photos" app wouldn't always pop up.. 

It was intermittent to say the least..  Now,  after countless attempts at fixing things on my own, 

the Photos app will launch, detect the phone, then the photos, but, when they're all found, 

the Photos app will completely freeze and become unresponsive. 

The task bar icon will disappear,  and I'll have to open Task Manager to force-quit the app.. 

At this point,  it's beyond annoying..  It's infuriating..  

It's NOT an Apple-thing,  It's NOT an Android-thing,  This IS a Microsoft / Windows thing!!  

Some of us actually rely on applications / features Working - when our jobs depend on it.. 

Our transfers/uploads are a lot more important than just cat and food pictures!  *face palm*

Microsoft Really Needs To Fix This!!!!  

I agree this is recent Windows problem. My Samsung as well as iPhone photo sync is not working now. Windows is all it's problems going downhill.

Yeah,  I've always considered 'Windows Updates' to be more like 'Windows Downgrades'.  At the very least,  after a Win Update,  my laptop's track pad will lose function until' I mess around enough to get it working again.. 

That's not My job.  This **** isn't Our jobs.  Microsoft/Windows needs to get their act together, and fix things instead of trying to pass the blame onto other devices, drivers, etc..  What a real-time-dumpster-fire.. 

And to add insult to injury,  I wanted to update both my phone and pc, 

and there's no way in hell I'd drop $3k plus Knowing that simple things like this potentially won't work.  *sigh*

its not phones. I hooked up my canon camera, same thing, pulled storage card out and plugged into card slot on computer, same thing. Microsoft could care less about supporting the product we are forced to buy. I was using windows 7 pro and never had a problem. they quit supporting it January  2020 . spent $1500 on a new computer with windows 10 and it has been nothing but crashes, freezes and problems since. They force you off of tried and true versions into news ones they have barely tested and do nothing but cause you grief. then they give you no way to resolve the problems. all you can do is vent on their page like this. I am considering just saying forget Microsoft and switching to mac. I don't ever hear the people I know using mac ever having the issues I have with Microsoft.

so freaking ticked right now. bunch of rich CEOs that could care less about the end loser as long as they are racking in the cash to their own pockets
