Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

There are no such apps in my app list. I'm trying to download from a camera, so none of the iPhone or Android fixes are relevant, and I've tried all the others. Still waiting for someone from Microsoft to post an update.

Its not an apple issue. I'm having the exact same issue on the same day with both my Iphone XR and my Samsung S7.

I have an LG phone.  I took my SD card out, put it in a card reader and was able to download 4,000 pictures to my laptop.  Nothing I did to my main computer worked.  My guess is one of the last MS updates screwed everything up.

Greg, you offered a lot of links, but none of them helped despite spending hours trying them.  I wonder if you know whether Microsoft has plans to fix this issue with Windows 10 photo app in the future?  Or who we might contact to register a suggestion that they do so?  Thanks for trying to help.

Workaround #2 worked for a bit, then failed again, this time with this "not functioning" error message. Reconnectiong the phone after changing the setting is apparently necessary.  However, reconnecting again doesn't fix the repeated problem.

This is so maddening! I am disgusted with the arrogance or laziness of BOTH companies.

BTW, I've also tried transferring images by using iTunes.  The instructions for that are non-existant in iTunes itself, and Apple and third-party instructions for downloading and/or synching files are about only apps, and this isn't an app. There is NO listing of files that are stored in the phone.

Why do people say Apple products are easier to use?  They are NOT, and the only online Support worse is Google.

Also, newbies, please note; with earlier Windows and iPhone 4, THIS COPYING PROCESS USED TO BE A NO-BRAINER.
