Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

    Thanks all, I came across BobM12345's solution :

    I've found that...

    - set the phone to download the images in original format. Windows 10 can now handle .heic images.

    before I got to RoronoaZoro3 and found that doing that (in the iPhone, go to settings, photos and under "transfer to mac or pc" turn off "automatic" and set to "keep originals") worked for me.

    Regarding selecting the photos, it seems to almost have only selcted just the new ones, other than a few duplicates.  Or I can just "select all" to transfer all 4500 onto my pc and then as the date/place meta date is intact I can sort them as I want on the PC.  Will hold off buying a mac for a little longer (still haven't worked out how to right click on them :)  )

    The exact same thing is happening to me! And I'm using a galaxy s9 +, it's not even an iPhone...
