Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

This worked perfectly for this issue!!
Ever since the windows update in early October (I think) the Microsoft Photos App and the windows photo import have been SEVERELY broken. It does not matter if it is Android or iPhone because the problem is not with our usb devices but with the windows program itself. Something is very wrong and needs to be addressed.
None of the troubleshooting steps the user can take will fix something that is inherently broken in the program itself. I have resorted in some instances where I need the photo on my pc that I will email it to myself and then download.
Current known issues:
Photos app freezes when scanning for new photos
If you can get an import started and the device goes to sleep, the import fails completely giving an error message that the file is corrupted
Using file explorer to locate your device and right click will often find the photos but may or may not import
In both methods of beginning an import, once the import gets to a video it will often "hang" for several minutes and it is about 1 in 4 attempts that the video will import. 75% of the time it says the file is corrupted and it will then skip ALL the remaining import files.
Our best bet at this point is to look for a reputable import software and bypass the windows Photo app completely until it is repaired.
all i get when i plug my phone in is this, everytime!!! it finds them, then freezes. i have fully updated the phone and just did the 1903 update on the pc also to make sure everything is a up to date as it can be.
I see the same thing on my Windows 10 laptop while I'm trying to import photos and movies from an iPhone 8 plus. I have many pictures and a few large movie files. My Windows 10 laptop is update.
Tried this solution, Unfortunately no joy.
Freezing problem started when I first installed iOS 13 on iPhone.
Am now running Windows 10 v1909 and latest iOS, but still the freezing problem exists.
Windows Explorer often fails to copy photos and videos, unless I copy the original *.HEIC photos by selecting iPhone Settings, Photos, Transfer to Mac or PC, Keep Originals.
Frustrating when this has been working with Windows 10, up till now!
It's unbelievable that after all these years Microsoft and Apple do not work together for a simple task such as Importing Photos!!!
BTW, I don't know if anyone from the Microsoft Developer teams ever reads Community grumbles. Might be worth posting problems via Feedback Hub. Then wait and wait and wait!
