Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

I have the exact same problem, however I am importing from the memory card directly after inserting into my brand new Dell XPS 15 with updated drivers.  It finds the photos and then stops before I can import and freezes.  I guess it is looking to see if the pictures exist.  I have never had issues with this working on Windows 10 until today.  I have had windows 10 since 2013 on another laptop and never had issues either.

One thing to mention is that I just recently added a few folders manually to the photo directory by copying them in explorer.  Could this have caused an issue?

I had the same problem with my iPhone7.  Disable the auto-lock on the iPhone (preventing it enters sleep mode) then it should work.

This just started happening to me too over the last week.  Prior to this, I had no problems at all.  It isn't that I have too many photos in storage either.  I have tried everything to fix this problem, with no avail.

I am using a Samsung phone and Windows 10 on a laptop.

By the way, does anyone know why the computer says it is searching for NEW photos and then it ends up importing ALL photos, even ones that have already been imported previously???
