Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

    I read up to about page 9.

    Have you people tried importing via the file explorer method?

    1. Open up file explorer with your iPhone plugged in (USB connection).
    2. You will see the name of your iPhone listed in the left.
    3. Right click the name (iPhone) and select 'import pictures and videos'.
    4. Then follow the instructions.

    This method worked for me, instead of the Photo App method.

    I was clearing out my old iPhone 7 Plus.

    None of this has helped.  How is it in 2020 we aren't able to easily import photos from iphone to pc???

    I was having the same issue with my iPhone X trying to import with Windows 10. Everytime I tried to import, it would freeze up after it calculated the media. I found the solution when I tried using a genuine iPhone usb cable. Once I did that, I initially thought it was going to freeze up again, but surprisingly it solved the issue and my import completed successfully! Hope this helps the rest of you! Cheers!

    I had this same problem over and over and finally found the solution.  Go into Itunes and turn on Home Sharing.  To do this open up ITunes on your PC and go to File --> Home Sharing --> Turn on Home Sharing.  You will have to login with your ITunes user name and password, and then once home sharing is on, go back to to the photos app and try the import again.  Works like a charm!!!

    I just tried it right away. It first looked very promising, the photos app never started so fast to check the content of my iphone and after some while even the import kicked in when all the items were found.

    Then after somewhat of 2500 Items out of 9500 my PC started to crash as if I was in the 90ies:  one window after the other froze, until my machine came to a complete full stop and frozen dead.

    After hard reset the disk scan needed to start a repair.

    My RAID5 started the verify job.

    Thanks for the very promising tip but I cannot risk that again!

    I do not understand the relation of this error to your solution, believe me.. but on the other hand my i7-9800X X299 with all its crazy power should really be able to deal with a simple USB file import.

    I cannot afford to try it again.. my heart is still pounding..

    this is for sure a serious problem of the iphone software in connection to the Microsoft Software.

    Others please post the results of your trials too!
