Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

    Hi everyone,  PROBLEM SOLVED FOR ME!

    I know that the original post was just about the windows photo app crashing or freezing when importing pictures.  I went through the gauntlet like everyone else and the last thing I tried today was to run the latest version of CC (**** Cleaner) and it fixed my problem!

    I couldn't believe it could be that simple but it was for me!  I hope this works for everyone else.

    Exactly my thoughts!

    Result? There is no way of moving those damn photos from iPhone to PC. I have tried literally every way

    1. iTunes - can't copy from the iPhone, only to the iPhone. What a joke!
    2. cable - freezes every time after it finds xxxx photos
    3. iCloud - you can't just sync selected photos - only all photos to 5gb cloud... but guess what you can buy more cloud space for money - lol
    4. transfer app - this kinda works, but then it can't copy videos made in another camera app as it will be in an unsupported format. Also, most of the photos from a normal camera app will have a weird format and won't work
    5. gdrive - similar to below
    6. uloz.to and other filesharing services - the only option that actually works for me, but it would be to easy if this worked perfectly. You need to select every goddamn single photo individually in safari and it is too slow.

    I have tried 3 different PCs, multiple cables, all the USB types, and also read through every "how-to" article both on Microsoft and apple support pages never mentioning other user's recommendations over the last THREE years. 

    Still doesn't work. Good job Microsoft and Apple!

    I bought finally the photo stick for pc and for cell phone.    I gave up and vopied everything on photo sticks.  Then copied cell photo stick onto pc.    Did yoh look in icloud drive folder?   Or icloud photo folder?

    Is your computer on Windows 10? I just got a new computer and can't upload my pics either.  The screen freezes after it finds the photos.

    Yes,

    Mine does exactly the same, finds all the photos on my iPhone and then freezes and crashes, never gives me an option to import them like it did before!?

    Everything worked great until the recent updates and then it stopped working.

    Back in November I uninstalled a couple of updates just to see and was able to to identify the one that was causing the issue because when I uninstalled it import worked just fine but then new updates got installed and importing stopped working.

    I have since tried everything including the total system restoration which updated my machine to the latest version 1909 and still not working.

    Does anyone know what's causing this issue and how to fix it.
