Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

-Gabriela

Decided to sod the Photo app and use the Import function in windows explore and it worked after a few tweeks with the iphone settings!

For anyone who would like to know. Go to Settings > Photos > scroll to bottom and change Transfer to PC to “Keep Originals”

then plug into computer, find iphone, right click- import photos and boom! Done!!

Super happy now! Sod you photos app! Hope this helps someone out

YOU ARE A LEGEND! Just transferred all the photos (10,000) off my iPhone - previously these have been downloaded but I could not download the "new photos" of 500.

I had to transfer all photos as new and not use sort function as it crashed, but the new photo import worked a treat.  The downside is I have to delete duplicates but then, have all my photos off my phone! Thank you to the power of 100.

    Yeah,  I'm with you!

Uninstalling, then doing fresh re-[installs] is the way to go..

Others even mentioned needing to or trying to uninstall other MS programs

thinking there may be 'conflicts'.  Hit and miss - And nice attempts at process of elimination for sure.

Since "Photos" is an OEM MS app/program,  it'll probably always reinstall automatically..

Most likely,  because it's a NEEDED OPTION for people that want to transfer/sync photos [with ease]

I only use it for my phones.  - Obviously not anymore though..

It was nice because it would transfer ALL photos from ALL apps in one shot..

Having to tether the phone and do a manual C drive / phone / card / folders transfer is such a pain..

The different camera apps have to be found, opened, and pics transferred from them individually..

Much less convenient and much more time wasted..  *sigh*

You mentioned **from your Android 'memory'...***  YES.  You're correct!

    Memory is 1 folder.

    Card is 2nd folder.

From there,  you have to deep-dive to find other sub-folders for the other camera apps..

Example:  Messenger photos,  other cam app folders,  editing app folders,  etc..

As for SONY - Thanks for the heads up!

I actually have all of their software installed on phones,  cameras,  computers too.

I shoot in RAW or RAW+JPG though,  so transferring those larger files via memory card works better/faster.

Still,  I appreciate the heads up none the less!  *Thumbs Up*

I wish that was actually the case..

You just seem to have lucked out.

I have a Sony A99ii and two Sony A77ii cameras which I've also USB toggled just to test..  MS Photos freezes and fails on all of them also!

[I always do direct SD card transfers with those into dedicated folders though]

    Still No Fix.

    I don't even think that they're attempting.

Kudos to everyone who've found and shared certain work arounds, but, they don't work for everyone..

    Personally speaking,  I'm still  S.O.L.

    Unreal..

Only difference is reset didn't work for me so I uninstalled MS Photo and then it came back on it's own. MS really screwed up on this one!
