Photos app freezes upon import / photo importing problems

Hello, I was trying to import photos from my iPhone via charging cable and upon import the photo app freezes. I reset my phone and tried again and it worked for the first import but another problem is that I can only upload 3-4 videos at a time before the photos app says something went wrong and I have to start the whole process all over again. Because of this, when I go to import again it just freezes once it hits my total photo and video count. This problem has been persistent ever since I started uploading photos and videos this past year or two and it really hinders my progress. Thanks for any help.

    I'm having that same problem with transferring the photos from my iPhone 6s to my Windows 10 computer.  It gets stuck on that same screen, but it gets stuck at about 4,126 photos when I actually have about 3,874 on my phone.  It's way to frustrating and I don't know what to do.

    Same to me.   Updated to 2004, but photos app still freeze when scanning photos....

    Unfortunately, this did not work for me either. When I click "import pictures and videos", it scans, but fails to find anything.

    If that does not work then check if your W10 is version 2004. There is a link for the update a few pages back.

    I updated to that version and it works but only if I follow the following procedure, lol.

    This is for my iPhone XS. When I plug it in, the photo app immediately boots up and the scanning shows to have failed. Rather then clicking "Try Again" I click "Cancel". Then click on Import and it has worked from there every time.
