Your Phone app shows duplicate sent messages

My Your Phone app is duplicating messages sent, sporadically. This has been happening the past few days. Windows and Your Phone apps have been updated. The duplicates are appearing in my Android texting app (Textra) as well. I have used Pulse, Google Messages, and Samsung Flow previously w/o this occurring.

Windows 10 Pro 1903

Android Pie, standard, non-rooted ROM

'Advisors', please don't ask me to run scannow or complete a repair install...thanks.

My suspicion is that this problem is with the Android OS, not the Windows App, which is why Microsoft is quiet about it.

Before trying the Your Phone app, I tried PushBullet, which is a non-microsoft product.  It has similar features, where you can text from your desktop, etc.

It exhibited the same spurious duplicate text issues.  In fact, those duplicate text issues were why I uninstalled Pushbullet and tried "Your Phone" in the first place.

I suspect that the reason some of those other apps worked (ie: samsung flow, google messages, etc) is because they install a replacement messaging app, which is tightly integrated with their PC messaging client.

In the case of PushBullet and "Your Phone", they just try and piggy-back onto whatever existing messaging app is there, using the core OS facilities for doing so, and that's where the issues arise.

    Just my two cents.

For all those who read (or follow) this area:

I've noticed that I no longer have this problem.  It stopped happening a short while ago but, beyond a few days (weeks), I can't be certain.  Are there any others out there who can confirm-or-deny that the duplicates have stopped?

    Thanks -- Merry Christmas!

    Dave

    Update (26 December 2019):

I was wrong, the problem still exists; I guess I just had a few days where it accidentally worked correctly.  :-(

    I agree.

From my point-of-view, they're pulling (what I call) a "Yahoo!"...

Yahoo! mail has long been usable and good, until they started "improving" it.  Now, it's become virtually unusable in many ways, and the forums are filled with people screaming bloody murder.  But, instead of fixing (or even acknowledging) the problems, they just soldier on, blindly.

My only guess is that, when something is free, it doesn't have to work right (or even well).

If it helps, you have my sympathies.  :-(

I totally agree. Just started using the app. And it seems like I can't. Double messages are not acceptable for me. I do have messenger app. But my default phone sms app is set as default for messages. Still, all messages sent from my pc are doubled... No answer or any help anywhere. Just posts like this one. Thats BAD.
