[Case Closed; No Solution] Windows 10 keeps failing update to 1903

Hello,

I'm currently running 1803 and every single time I am trying to upgrade to 1903 I got a BSOD with a PFN List Corrupt.

  1. I have tried several method: let Windows Update download and install; Creating a Win10 installation Media in USB
  2. I have more than 43GB of free space.
  3. I've run File System checker, CheckDisk, and any other tool / utility

The other day I change MSConfig and select selective startup to disable other services/programs to load and after rebooting my PC couldn't even find Windows booting to a Boot Manager where only Windows 7 was an option (??????) (My original OS was Win7 but I upgrade to Win10 through Microsoft Upgrade Program) but no trail of Win7 neither. I used a third-party boot utility that fix the boot and I'm again in Win10 that keeps reminding me that I have an old version, that I would not get more updates and I have to upgrade... but the damn update keeps failing after download, reboot, install and after the 2 or 3 reboot in the installation process I got the ERROR.

I need like 2 restarts to see see the message saying is putting all back to previous state and then boot again and still ion ver 1803.

Please advice. I have tried all those canned solutions people post on forums with no difference.

    The fact you have a legacy install is because you cloned a Win 7 install.

    The current build you are running is 1803.  If you had that build on install media, you could use it to install over the top of the current install by runnng the Setup.exe from within Win 10.  

    Once a system has been activated with Win 10, you no longer need an older OS since that activation is kept online for that system.  To do a clean install to a new drive, all you have to do is skip the requirement to add a license key and the install will activate once you are online.

    Sorry if I am not following you. What do you mean by a "legacy install"?

    I recall I upgraded the MoBo long time ago. Maybe at that time when I installed Win7 in the HDD the BIOS was not EUFI? Then when I did all the clonning was already with the new MoBo with EUFI? Maybe this was carrying over something wrong?

    Ok, so if I understood correctly, what I need is to get a Win10 1803 .iso and do an in-place install to keep everything else?

    You made the comment you thought the system was UEFI, not me.  I was just confirming it is not UEFI, but it doesn't make a difference.

    You may not be able to download an .iso for 1803, in fact, I highly doubt that is possible.

    What is important is you can do a clean install and you do not need to worry about a prior OS for activation.

    I was able to get the Win10_1803_English_x64 .iso I will try that next.

    Well. I don't know what the hell is going on. I run the setup.exe. The purple background opened and selected Install Win 10 Pro and Keep files and apps. Installation when all the way to 100%, PC restarted. then Applying updates ~47% and then BSOD with a Memory_Management error. PC needs to restart. I restarted and PC undo all the changes. Back to square one.
