[Case Closed; No Solution] Windows 10 keeps failing update to 1903

Hello,

I'm currently running 1803 and every single time I am trying to upgrade to 1903 I got a BSOD with a PFN List Corrupt.

  1. I have tried several method: let Windows Update download and install; Creating a Win10 installation Media in USB
  2. I have more than 43GB of free space.
  3. I've run File System checker, CheckDisk, and any other tool / utility

The other day I change MSConfig and select selective startup to disable other services/programs to load and after rebooting my PC couldn't even find Windows booting to a Boot Manager where only Windows 7 was an option (??????) (My original OS was Win7 but I upgrade to Win10 through Microsoft Upgrade Program) but no trail of Win7 neither. I used a third-party boot utility that fix the boot and I'm again in Win10 that keeps reminding me that I have an old version, that I would not get more updates and I have to upgrade... but the damn update keeps failing after download, reboot, install and after the 2 or 3 reboot in the installation process I got the ERROR.

I need like 2 restarts to see see the message saying is putting all back to previous state and then boot again and still ion ver 1803.

Please advice. I have tried all those canned solutions people post on forums with no difference.

    Saltgrass,

    Windows Re-Donloaded the installation and I tried again with same result. Error goes back again to the original PFN_List_Corrupt after stuck at 27% for long time and then reaching 71% where it fails.

    Nothing ASUS related installed as far as I can see. I don't see any problems in my graphics at all this time. As I say, the system works perfectly every day for every task. My graphic card drivers are up-to-date. I don't see any IIS user on my system.

    The ASUS stuff may not be effecting this but you might search for the control panel and Programs and Features and see if they are installed or at least check the files below to see a date..  If there were error messages on your system in the Event viewer or you saw repeating problems in a performance graph, it might give us some clues.  Try typing perfmon /rel in a run box and check the graph.  You can go day by day and get that info.

    You seem to have that IIS APPool user set up on your system.  The log shows it is being ignored but if you could remove that user and I assume it is a default user.  IIS has caused problems under certain circumstances and one is if the install is only a partial one.

    I have seen folks have problems with graphic cards.  Having the latest update as well as for other devices may help..

    Still no luck at finding some sort of reasonable solution for your situation.  I assume you do not have an image of your current install, is there any chance one could be made, even at this late date?

    Interesting. WINDOWS\Minidump is empty.

    Yes still in the previous build 1803

    rechecked reagentc and it shows still enabled (in case for some reason it reverted itself)

    As long as I remember that partition was created when I upgrade from Win7 to Win10 through desktop upgrade assistance. Its been long time ago.

    I don't see, find any program utility installed that can change fans except Corsair LINK app for the water cooling fan, but it is not even loaded or running or the AMD one for the graphic card.

    Any additional info that you need?
