update 1903 sound problem

I have just updated to 1903, and have lost all sound. I have a Creative Audigy2 ZS Pro, yes, I know it's old, but it was working perfectly on build 1809.

After this 1903 update, no sound, so I went back to 1809, and hey presto, I got my sound back. I then tried the very latest 1903 build, but lost the sound again. Have MS got an answer? I will have to go back to 1809 if I want to hear anything, but can wait a day or so if anyone at MS can give me a solution.

Hi, I just found this forum thread with a solution for EMU cards.

It involves grabbing a Creative driver for a different card (X-FI Titanium) that was fixed for 1903 and combining it with the latest EMU driver in a specific way.

    https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=371831&start=225

I haven't tried it yet, because I rolled back to 1809 for now. Can you please confirm back to me if it's working for you?

    I hope I could help.

    Thanks.

I can confirm that this method worked for me with the E-MU 1616m.

I have some problems with this too.

I joined Game Pass for PC and was informed by windows that I needed to update to the newest version for the Game Pass app to work- turned out to be 1903. 😫 I actually hesitated suspecting 1903 as the intended release and having heard of problems with it, but I figured if there were still issues it would stop short of 1903. My mistake.

Ever since then, my quadrophonic speaker setup doesn't work. I have a soundbar one one output and a set of Soundblaster speakers with a sub for rears on another. However, ever since the update the rears/sub only work when playing the "test" button sound. Otherwise, it won't play anything from that port.  I tried swapping the cables and sure enough, now the rears work and the fronts don't but this makes the system think the rears are fronts and vice versa.

I'm at a loss as to why the speakers would work when playing test sounds but don't with any other type of sound output.

    Other things I've tried:

    Driver rollback

    Drive update

    Manual installation of drivers

    Generic drivers

Disabling and re-enabling the sound card

Disabling and reenabling the specific output

Disabling all sound effects and advanced sound settings

I could split the one working output but this would only give me stereo, not quad surround 😕

I also looked at the event log for the sound car drivers and found that windows update indeed made changes to my sound car drivers during the update to 1903 last night. I saved the log of these changes before doing anything manually. These changes had to be Windows Update changes because I happened to be asleep in my chair at the time this happened.

Most frustrating part about this is that I literally paid money to Microsoft to  end up with this problem by signing up for Game Pass for PC!  And what's worse: there's no going back!

If I had any other choices for gaming and my Rift S I wouldn't be using a Windows system at all. Its a total joke of an OS and has been for quite a while.

As a PC gamer I feel like ive been totally crapped on by Microsoft while they played Console wars with Sony and Nintendo. I was gaming on PC before PlayStation and Xbox existed! Game Pass for PC was my hope that would change- but it's more of the same.

I just had the same no sound problem after the 1903 update.  I tried many things and nothing worked.  I went to the Creative website and downloaded the software for my card and restarted the computer.  This fixed the problem.

This didnt solve the issue after many tries. Level 2 MS Support told me the BIOS was outdated and that was definitely the problem. Well I tried that after I spoke to them and that didn't work either. At this point whichever port I choose in the Realtek audio manager as rear doesn't work. It doesn't matter whether it's the blue or the green port, whichever one I make the front speakers works and whichever one I make the back speakers doesn't.
