Infrared not recognized

Upgraded to Windows 10 ver 1903 and the infrared device is not working. Got this:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Dalvic do you still have the problem?

Try to remove and re-add the Infrared.  It is probably more reliable to use the PowerShell Commands (If you are not comfortable you can try the interface which may not work.

Power Shell to Add / remove IrDA infrared components

Run PowerShell as administrator

Query state of the IrDA components:

get-WindowsCapability -online -Name "Network.Irda~~~~0.0.1.0"

Unistall

Remove-WindowsCapability -online -Name "Network.Irda~~~~0.0.1.0"

Add

add-WindowsCapability -online -Name "Network.Irda~~~~0.0.1.0"

Query state of the IrDA components:

get-WindowsCapability -online -Name "Network.Irda~~~~0.0.1.0"

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> get-WindowsCapability -online -Name "Network.Irda~~~~0.0.1.0"

Then the others: 

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Remove-WindowsCapability -online -Name "Network.Irda~~~~0.0.1.0"

Path          :Online        : TrueRestartNeeded : False

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> add-WindowsCapability -online -Name "Network.Irda~~~~0.0.1.0">>

Path          :Online        : TrueRestartNeeded : False

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> get-WindowsCapability -online -Name "Network.Irda~~~~0.0.1.0"

Name         : Network.Irda~~~~0.0.1.0State        : InstalledDisplayName  : IrDA infraredDescription  : Support for IrDA devices. Requires special IrDA hardware.DownloadSize : 604101InstallSize  : 1236233

Alternative: on windows interface:

To remove:

Go to Settings -> Apps and Features -> Optional Features

Select IrDA Infrared and click uninstall.

To Install

Go to Settings -> Apps and Features -> Optional Features

Add a feature (top of list)

Select IrDA Infrared from the list.

It installs and should be visible in the Optional Features list.

Go back to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items and hopefully you will now see Infra Red icon and features.

If this does not work do use the PowerShell commands

    I have exactly the same problem with Polar IR dongle which seems to use same Asix driver. I use this dongle from 2 to 4 times per week to download data from my heart rate monitor. Dongle didn't work with 1903 version at all. Had to return to 1809.

    Computer is HP Spectre x360 Convertible with all recommended updates i.e. updated with HP Support Assistant and Windows Update.

    I'm sorry but I wasn't clear.  I have a infrared device (a dongle which does not have a name associated with on it) connected to my computer.  The infrared device is used to communicate to my SCUBA dive computer (Scubapro Galileo Luna).  The system was working fine last fall and I haven't needed to use the infrared device since I haven't been diving  (I'm not sure of the Windows 10 version at that time).  The device driver is an ASIX Electronics Corporation driver version 1.3.2.0.  Like I said it was working fine last fall (September?) and now in device manager I get this message:

    "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

    I deleted the device driver and reloaded it but it is still not working.

    I don;t see an Infra-red radio listed in the specs for that system,

    Inspiron 3847 Specs:

    Perhaps that is the Bluetooth radio you are referring to, if so you will find the driver for the Blue tooth radio in the network drivers section . ..
