Disable Windows 10 automatic restart after updates

Is there any REAL way to disable this cancer feature?

This is not the first time i have lost unsaved work due to this annoying function, that almost every Windows user hates.

I'm trying to behave, but it is really hard to keep calm after loosing unsaved work multiple times.

Why is it that Windows cannot just wait until the user decides to restart at a convenient time? It's not like the end of the world that users doesn't restart at a specific time.

In a time where Apple's Mac is already "stealing" a lot of Windows customers, it is a very risky (and dumb) feature to add to Windows.

This alone is very difficult to argue against in a Mac vs. Windows discussion.

Luckily (for Microsoft) Microsoft have secured themselves from a law suit in their policy.

MS knows that all Windows users hates this feature, and yet they still have it. WHY?

So back to the question. Is there any official/unofficial way (FOR GOOD)  that allows me to disable this annoying feature?

I tried following some tutorials on YouTube, but little did it help obviously, as i just came home and found my computer restarted, and my work deleted.

    We all wish!!! The response will be Save and Backup. You can pay for online space with MS for your backups in the cloud. 

    But the truth is that it would appear they don't give a hoot about small users. I never received a call back after putting in a support request regarding this issue either. Possibly all their funds have gone toward the telephone help desk and training people to tell users how to restart their systems.

    Such a sad state of affairs and I wish there were something that could be done legally to hold them accountable.

    I finally found a simple solution for this, tested on 1809 and 1903, home & pro (hopefully they don't break it on 1909).

    It is not perfect as you will stop getting the notifications but I think you still get the little dot(I think only on 1903) on the Power button when you open the Start.

    The solution is this .reg file:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    When I attempt to save the changes in Step # 7, I get a pop-up box titled "Task Scheduler", which asks for an username and password.  The problem is that my username is not among the list of users, yet I am the only user of this computer, and I am an authorized Administrator for the PC.  Additionally, none of the listed "users" are actually authorized accounts for this computer.

    Furthermore, I have been unable to find any way to give my user account permission to save the new file location.

    Your help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    I just had windows force and update on my system then conduct a reboot for the second time in a week. 

    When the system restarted my work drive (D:/) was no longer accessible.

    Managed to start and step back to 5 hours prior to the update and the drive came back however the critical development folder was missing.

    I downloaded a file recovery tool and found the folder in a sub folder that windows appears to have deleted. 

    Personally I am surprised that Microsoft can legally get away with messing with other peoples data, My most reliable machine is still running Windows 7 and its never missed a beat. Updated to Windows 10 and have regretted every minute.

    Hopefully following a couple of the solutions provided will stop this kind of thing ever happening again however Microsoft really need to have a think about giving us the ability to turn this off without having to go this far.
