Hello,
there is an huge problem with the Kb4493509 Update.
Me and an friend got the Update yesterday evening and installed it after the installation and the reboot our system doesn't work correctly.
After an deinstallation of the Kb4493509 the systems work perfectly fine.
We tested it on some other devices too and had the same issue on every System.
Can someone confirm this on his own system?

I uninstalled the update, but according to the Avast forums, a patch has been released already and I installed it yesterday. But my system still acted wierdly. Why is this?

what other 3rd party apps do you have installed?
You mean AV programs? Well, I do have Malwarebytes free version.
Attempting to treat the symptom(s) instead of addressing (eliminating) the underlying cause, without full success could be in play here?
(They should instead supply the customers with a link to their full uninstallation utility (which removes all remnants of, including registry entries) and offer a refund for paid versions, at least on a pro-rated basis, IMHO).
The beauty of eliminating the underlying cause is that the associated symptoms involved will not have to be addressed again in the future, at least concerning the use of invited 3rd party viruses' (oops, I meant 3rd party Anti-Virus applications, oh yea, pretty much the same thing, never mind:>)
The Same Old Story, can become exhausting.

Is the trial (full function) version still active or is it now in the free standalone mode?
It’s in the free mode. I disabled the paid version right away.
I use MBAM free as a standalone (with the update/scan on schedule in background in the newest version) (no real-time protection enabled) and no other 3rd party AV products (no unused/un-activated old trial pre-installed or accidentally installed products either, (check your apps list in either Win 10 settings or in the old familiar Control panel to uninstall if any are shown there) without issue/no conflicts with the Windows Defender suite of protection.
The MBAM currently on my device is as follows:
