Windows 10 v1903 - ntoskrnl.exe & ISR/DPC latency spikes

Hi,

After updating to 1903 LatencyMon associates ntoskrnl.exe with large latency spikes on the order of ~1,300µs. Same results with KB4497935.

I posted here too as I thought it could be related to the GPU driver:

Others are also reporting similar symptoms. E.g. in some instances this results in noticeable audio clicks/pops.

Are you seeing similar results?

Does anyone at Microsoft acknowledge this?

It should be easily reproducible.

SOLUTION:

KB4505903 seems to have significantly mitigated the ntoskrnl.exe latency spikes for many users.

Didn't work for me. The solution is simply to stay on 1809 or earlier.

Turning off power throttling also shouldn't be required, as the computer then wastes power unnecessarily. If this works for users, it is more of a workaround than a solution.

Can confirm, went back to 1809 and absolutely no more issues, tried 1903 twice, once via update, once via fresh install, and had ntoskrnl.exe issues both times. There is an issue with Microsoft Q/A that needs to be addressed.

Hey guys I would love to go back to 1803. I have two computers, one is on 1803 and the one I'm using currently on 1903. I didn't have a choice when I switched to 1903 because I had a problem with my MBR and I couldn't even do anything to repair it and roll back to a previous save/restore point.

But obviously Microsoft official website doesn't give you an image for Win 10 1803, so where can I get one?

Oldest one they seem to provide is 1809 if you spoof your brower's user agent (otherwise you can only get 1903). 1809 seems fairly mature at this point so it might be a good alternative to 1803.

Hey, thanks for the help. But I found another solution! On the sysadmin subreddit someone posted a tool to download previous versions directly from Microsoft servers! Now I got the 1803 and 1809, it's gonna be a long day tomorrow but I won't have to deal with these annoying bugs from 1903 at least!
