Windows 10 v1903 - ntoskrnl.exe & ISR/DPC latency spikes

Hi,

After updating to 1903 LatencyMon associates ntoskrnl.exe with large latency spikes on the order of ~1,300µs. Same results with KB4497935.

I posted here too as I thought it could be related to the GPU driver:

Others are also reporting similar symptoms. E.g. in some instances this results in noticeable audio clicks/pops.

Are you seeing similar results?

Does anyone at Microsoft acknowledge this?

It should be easily reproducible.

SOLUTION:

KB4505903 seems to have significantly mitigated the ntoskrnl.exe latency spikes for many users.

davidjwbailey, I think we all here already know about MSI and MSIX and tools like "MSI_util_v2". Changing the signalling of IRQs may reduce the spikes, but unfortunately it's no cure to completely remove the issues.

On a clean install of 1903 I was having frequent bad audio dropouts with ntoskrnl.exe spiking at almost 3000µs. I almost never had problems with 1809. Manually installing KB4505903 has reduced the spikes to about 800µs and I haven't had any dropouts yet. This is on a Core i5 laptop with no discreet graphics card.
