Windows 10 v1903 - ntoskrnl.exe & ISR/DPC latency spikes

Hi,

After updating to 1903 LatencyMon associates ntoskrnl.exe with large latency spikes on the order of ~1,300µs. Same results with KB4497935.

I posted here too as I thought it could be related to the GPU driver:

Others are also reporting similar symptoms. E.g. in some instances this results in noticeable audio clicks/pops.

Does anyone at Microsoft acknowledge this?

It should be easily reproducible.

SOLUTION:

KB4505903 seems to have significantly mitigated the ntoskrnl.exe latency spikes for many users.

    Hey guys I would love to go back to 1803. I have two computers, one is on 1803 and the one I'm using currently on 1903. I didn't have a choice when I switched to 1903 because I had a problem with my MBR and I couldn't even do anything to repair it and roll back to a previous save/restore point.

    But obviously Microsoft official website doesn't give you an image for Win 10 1803, so where can I get one?

    Can confirm, went back to 1809 and absolutely no more issues, tried 1903 twice, once via update, once via fresh install, and had ntoskrnl.exe issues both times. There is an issue with Microsoft Q/A that needs to be addressed.

    Didn't work for me. The solution is simply to stay on 1809 or earlier.

    Turning off power throttling also shouldn't be required, as the computer then wastes power unnecessarily. If this works for users, it is more of a workaround than a solution.

    Have tried your proposed solution, it did not mitigate ntoskrnl.exe latency spikes on my Ryzen system.

    SOLUTION (or at least a major factor):

    A member on the Nvidia forums pointed me to the Turn off Power Throttling setting and it seems to have significantly mitigated the ntoskrnl.exe latency spikes.

    I highly recommend that you try this. It's probably best to change the setting via gpedit.msc vs just the registry. Don't forget to reboot / re-login.

    UPDATE: Nevermind, did some further testing and this seems inconclusive.
