As of Jan 12, 2021, with the installation of the latest Windows 10 update (20H2 OS build 19042.746), my Windows Your Phone app is now working.

I installed my OS updates, checked the Windows Store and pulled down the latest Your Phone version.

I wiped the storage of the Android app and the Windows Store app to start fresh.

They connected, paired, whatever. It's working now.

I have no idea what changed.

When running the Android app, it still launches with "Finish linking on your PC", and the Check your PC screen on Android shows, with the spinning wheel. Nothing happens on the PC. I cannot get past this screen on Android.

But the main functions of the Your Phone app on Windows all work: Notifications, Messages, Photos and Calls.

I would have to question if the software is worth the trouble.  From all these posts, I gather there are other solutions with far fewer bugs.  I would make the determination myself but I haven't been able to get the connection to work and this seems like hours tracking down settings.  Reset the phone?  After all the customizations, migrating data and contacts and setting up accounts?

There are people and companies that release programs that work most of the time and fail only rarely.  Seems like MS has chosen to go the other way on this.

A solution that worked for me was selecting use a different user and reentered same username and password.

    1. I had change password long ago and the app used previous credentials to connect.
    2. I use 2step verification.

    To Microsoft
There should be an option when changing passwords to unlink you from everywhere. The app should have asked for

proper credentials when changed password, but it didn't and suddenly stopped connecting!!

This worked (step 1).  I didn't think to use a "different user" because it was already log into my account.

I have finally resolved this issue for myself as I was trying to connect for work and was unable to make calls directly from the applications.

COMPUTER: make sure that your microsoft account is set to sync across devices

    1. go to windows settings
    2. accounts
    3. sign-in options (VERIFY YOUR ACCOUNT IF IT'S NOT)
    4. SYNC YOUR SETTINGS(enable this across your devices)

SMARTPHONE: make sure that you give LINK TO WINDOWS the right permissions if you haven't

Good luck guys it took me a while to get this running following the rabbit hole that is the internet. Hopefully this helps.
