hi I want to connect my android device to my hp windows 10 pro using the "You Phone' and " Phone Companion" but there is is know connection even though they are both connected to a WIFI hotspot from another device. My android is stuck in a loop saying " We're checking one more thing on your PC before we ask for a final permission, while my PC stuck on" We need permission to connect and access data onyour phone. Please check your phone and tap allow."

2021-02-28T00:38:54+00:00 Actually the second link there helped me, but only after I had realized that in the Smart Switch app had copied over the older version of Your Phone Companion app from my Galaxy S7 Edge over to my Note20 Ultra. As you can imagine this must have cause a conflict somewhere. I can't uninstall the outdated version of the app that was copied over but I was able to roll it back and uninstall updates for it and that fixed all my issues after following the link https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mobiledevices/forum/all/your-phone-app-wont-connect-anymore/336977eb-2bf9-4835-91bd-9e81966afdea
TL:DR - If you have a newer phone you will likely be using the Link to Windows app and not the Your Phone Companion, so if you have that installed from an app that copies things over to your new phone (Smart Switch) that's likely the problem.

2021-02-23T22:36:55+00:00 I have finally resolved this issue for myself as I was trying to connect for work and was unable to make calls directly from the applications.
COMPUTER: make sure that your microsoft account is set to sync across devices
- go to windows settings
- accounts
- sign-in options (VERIFY YOUR ACCOUNT IF IT'S NOT)
- SYNC YOUR SETTINGS(enable this across your devices)
SMARTPHONE: make sure that you give LINK TO WINDOWS the right permissions if you haven't
Good luck guys it took me a while to get this running following the rabbit hole that is the internet. Hopefully this helps.

2021-02-02T18:14:33+00:00 A solution that worked for me was selecting use a different user and reentered same username and password.
- I had change password long ago and the app used previous credentials to connect.
- I use 2step verification.

There should be an option when changing passwords to unlink you from everywhere. The app should have asked forproper credentials when changed password, but it didn't and suddenly stopped connecting!!
This worked (step 1). I didn't think to use a "different user" because it was already log into my account.
