It has worked on my HP Omen laptop successfully with an Alcatel a30 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, and a Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The two Samsungs were relatively stable. The Alcatel was not.

Often, a Windows Update will kill this feature until the next update. That's the most frustrating thing about this service. It seems like it's just an afterthought to Microsoft; not really important to them.

I like being able to text from my HP Omen laptop and just hope that Microsoft puts some time into this capability. It would be better not to even have the texting feature if it is not stable. Raises my blood pressure when it doesn't work.

With my Mac, I just send the text and never have to worry. With my Windows 10 PC, I have to check each time, to make sure the computer is still connected to the phone. Often it requires a "Refresh" to make it work.

C'mon Microsoft. You want to make this work!

The only thing they say doesn't work with particular phones is the Phone Screen feature(due to hardware requirements).  Photos, Messages, and Notifications are supposed to work for any phone.

Everything worked Thursday through Saturday and stopped working this morning.  I have no intention of going through multiple hours of trying to get this crappy software to work again.  I went ahead and did "Recreate my problem" recordings on different 10 different feedback reports.  In them, I used project to my PC so they could see my damned phone screen, showed my PC and phone are on the same network(and mobile data is turned OFF), go through all the Your Phone settings in the Android app, went to Settings on my PC and went to Phone where it shows no problems, then to my MS account showing the phone has no problems, then tried to load up the PC app and hit refresh to eventually come up with the "We can't connect to your phone" error.

Seriously, the whole team on this project needs to be fired.  This software hasn't been beta for over a year now yet it operates like it's pre-alpha.  After finding hundreds of posts like this and dozens of feedback posts(and hundreds of upvotes before they got rid of that feature), it's a train wreck with no sign MS hasn't abandoned it like they abandoned everything else.

A solution that worked for me was selecting use a different user and reentered same username and password.

    1. I had change password long ago and the app used previous credentials to connect.
    2. I use 2step verification.

    To Microsoft

There should be an option when changing passwords to unlink you from everywhere. The app should have asked for

proper credentials when changed password, but it didn't and suddenly stopped connecting!!
