I had this same issue until today, I went to Setting, Troubleshoot and then Power. It fixed the issue for me. The display is now dimming when it goes on battery. Battery saver is not enabled.

well are you running on 1809 or NEW 1903. updates FIXING 1809 were sent out ages ago.

1903 in June CREATED the same problem all over again.

IF you are now 1903 and you ran the troubleshooter... well Yes it SEEMS to fix it, but d a few shur downs and then srestarts and the issue comes RIGHT back.

Plus you may be noiticing that the Power Mode option isn't adjusting properly either between battery and AC.

Why the heck Windows doesnt just send us all notices that they know this issue came back.

Let me know about the above questions

    FIXED:

After the "Windows Update"  (Windows 10 Home Version10.0.18362 Build 18362) the screen brightness dims really low once I remove my laptop from a power source.  I searched for help online and found out that the "adaptive Brightness" feature was now missing with this update.  After messing around with my settings I discovered the fix but I am not sure if this applies to everyone.  Good Luck!

Right Click on home screen =>click on AMD Radeon Settings (or find your graphic card settings?) => Click on the Display tab =>Vari-Bright Toggle Off.

Thank you very much sir. This helped a lot. in my case, it was "Intel Graphics settings" after opening it go to display, color settings, color enhancement, then change the contrast from 50 to 51 or 52. And that solved my brightness issue

    here is my PC details:

That didn't work. changing the contrast does NOT fix the issue where brightness does NOt change either up or down when I plug the ac in or unplug it. It stays at whether I set it manully last.

BTW adaptive brightness NO longer is comes with windows updates, they got rid of it.

And screwing around with your intel driver to previous issues is a total waste of time.

I used to have the HD Control Panel but uninstalled it a while back. confuses the system. I did reinstall it to try your contrast fix, but that doesn't help.

    thxs for reply
