Missing display / toggle for adaptive brightness in windows update 1809

OMG!!!

Thank you so much, i have a new Dell G3 gaming laptop! and this has been killing my eyes for days because i can't find the button everyone is talking about.....i spoke to dell too and i have no idea what they did but clearly it didn't help! i finally solved this problem (*sob*)

Just wanted to update this thread since I have been dealing with this auto dimming/brightening (adaptive brightness) issue for 3 weeks since getting a Dell Inspiron 7786 laptop. It was driving me absolutely crazy! After researching it myself and then going back and forth with Dell support for almost a month, the solution that finally fixed this annoying issue was to enter the BIOS (restart computer and press F2 at startup), click the Video dropdown menu and disable the "Dynamic Backlight Control".  This finally fixed the problem for me and hope it can help others.

Currently using:

Acer Swift 3, 12gb RAM, 1TB HDD

Windows 10 64 bit, currently updated to build 1809 (latest)

FIXED:

After the "Windows Update"  (Windows 10 Home Version10.0.18362 Build 18362) the screen brightness dims really low once I remove my laptop from a power source.  I searched for help online and found out that the "adaptive Brightness" feature was now missing with this update.  After messing around with my settings I discovered the fix but I am not sure if this applies to everyone.  Good Luck!

Right Click on home screen =>click on AMD Radeon Settings (or find your graphic card settings?) => Click on the Display tab =>Vari-Bright Toggle Off.

Thank you very much sir. This helped a lot. in my case, it was "Intel Graphics settings" after opening it go to display, color settings, color enhancement, then change the contrast from 50 to 51 or 52. And that solved my brightness issue

Not sure WHAT is going on but 1809 issue with adaptive brightness and that the brightness will NOT change between battery and plugged in WAS FIXED in an Update last December to early January depending on your system.

I had the EXACT same issue and it was resolved.

NOW in June 2019 the 1903 came - on HP Envy running Windows 10 - and the adaptive brightness is GONE again and the issue of battery v plugged in is back again. SO ANNOYING. Sent numerous Feedback Hub reports but that really is useless.

Really weird that if you click on battery on task bar and open up settings I get this message:

YES it is set to 100% on battery BUT IF I change it to 80% which is what I want it ALL I get is this message and then I have to manually change it back and worth - REALLY ANNOYING

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE THEM TO FIX THIS

Are you talking about the Night light settings?

If so go Settings, System, Display.

Also you can right click on the desktop nd pick Display settings.
