‘No applicable devices linked to Microsoft account’

i have been trying to download sims 4 on my windows 10 lenovo. It says ‘you own this game’ and gives me the option to ‘install on my devices’ however when i click this, it tells me i dont have any applicable devices linked to my microsoft account. I do have a microsoft account and it is linked to my windows 10 laptop. Is this an issue with windows 10? It was very expensive so i therefore expect to get my moneysworth. Do i need am Xbox account? Is that the issue? Very frustrated i just wanted the sims and have discovered that many people have the same issue. Help me microsoft!

    Same problem here. I bought Minecraft on my PC, and it says "No applicable devices linked to Microsoft account" when I try to install. 

    If I click on "Get more info on your device list" it shows three linked devices (xbox, pc, and laptop) all displaying "No issues found".

    If I click on "Microsoft Store device management", it shows all three devices linked to the store (3 devices of limit of 10).

    I also checked the XBox App on my laptop, but there is nothing listed under "Games I own". I double-checked and my xbox live account is linked to my windows account properly.

    I bought a game, and I'd like to play it. Why is this process a nightmare?

    The Microsoft support is worthless. I see at least 6 pages of people begging for help with the same problem. This is the only answer in 6 pages, from an MVP and it provides no help. It is a waste of time to contact the support link given in this reply. I have the exact same issue, and now realize I am on my own. This has been an ongoing problem for years, and no fix. Thanks to all who have given solutions that worked for them. I have tried them all and none have worked for me. Once again Microsoft support does not exist, but you did not need me to tell you that.

    It's ok all I had to do was update my pc I did it but it made where I can put all my apps smaller and all so that's a doen

    I have the same issue with Windows 8.1, I have done all the above with no change. I still can not download from the Microsoft store, because I get a message about no device linked to my Microsoft account. Then it won't let me link the computer to my devices. I called Microsoft support after reviewing all the help topics and community topics with NO ANSWER. No help Microsoft support, could not give me an answer. This is an old issue goes goes back many years, and still no fix as of April 7, 2021. VERY FRUSTRATED!
