Why is there no "troubleshoot hardware & devices" in 1809 update?

I have looked everywhere in settings & control panel, & there is no longer a troubleshooter for hardware & devices. All of the other troubleshoot options are still listed , & there is no "view all." In 1803 I could access it in " update & security" then chose "troubleshoot" & it was the 4th one listed under "find & fix other problems" where "keyboard" is now. Unless Microsoft will come up with a fix, I guess the only solution is to go back to 1803?

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Please note that Hardware and Device troubleshooter was removed from Windows 10 starting from the build version 1809. The Hardware & Devices troubleshooter had the lowest daily usage was usually run in tandem with other troubleshooters, therefore it was determined it was no longer needed and specific troubleshooters should be used instead (i.e. Bluetooth, audio, etc.).

    I'm really missing the Hardware & Devices troubleshooter after the latest W10 update.  I didn't use it every day, but I needed it occasionally to fix problems with USB flash drives and SD cards not being recognized.  I'm really sorry that it's gone.  Now, my laptop's USB 2.0 ports are unusable.  The Hardware & Devices troubleshooter was the best way to fix problems with USB ports, SD ports, and Auto Play.  I am indeed very sad, because I thought the Hardware & Devices troubleshooter was the best thing about W10.  I'm really disappointed right now.

    so stupid to pull this troubleshooter out, there is no way to troubleshoot usb hard drive?!!?!

    I'm horrified that Microsoft did this.  I have the same problem with USB flash drives.  I actually was enjoying W10, because I had discovered that I could fix USB issues easily with the 'Hardware and Devices' troubleshooter.  Why did Microsoft get rid of something that actually made W10 good?  I feel that Microsoft excels at ruining good things.  Now I have no way of fixing my USB devices :(

    I was just trying to find this troubleshooter since it was the only way I can get my touchscreen to work whenever an update broke it (likely the drivers' fault, not Microsoft's).

    For those of you looking for it, see if you can still use it using this method:

    • open Settings
    • go to "Devices"
    • ensure you're in the section "Bluetooth & other Devices"
    • click on "Devices and printers" in the right column
    • right click on the device you think is having a problem (it may likely already be marked with an exclamation mark) and select "Troubleshoot"

    I, too, would really appreciate if the troubleshooter was made more accessible again. But as long as it's not removed altogether, I'm not too fussed. (If it truly is removed altogether, I'm afraid I don't actually know how to keep my device functional.)
