What were the steps? I just updated THREE computers and NONE of them are able to connect to Windows Update. I did an "in-place upgrade" on one of them and it did not resolve the problem. 

MESSAGE: "We couldn't connect to the update service. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're connected to the Internet."

UPDATE is KB4476976 (OS Build 17763.292)

And, yes, I am connected to the internet. This is very annoying. If it is an issue/bug (and it must be) how does MS plan on rolling out a fix if users cannot connect to Windows Update? I have tried all the known fixes out there (stop/start services related to WU, run various commands in an elevated command prompt, perform an in-place upgrade, you name it. Nothing works).

    I'm having this issue too (BT router btw) - last update was 30 Jan. I am very loathe to try the DN and whatever fixes as that is all a bit beyond me and, at least, my machine works at the moment. I am another who is waiting on a fix from MS which will hopefully be sooner rather than later!

    I have had a chat with one of the support people in Microsoft and he admitted to me that they did have an issue.

    This lines from the chat -

    "

    We have received so many customers facing the same issue about Windows update so we have changed the DNS settings to Google settings temporarily.

    . . . . . . . . . .

    Yes, you are absolutely right we just need to change the DNS values to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

    . . . . . .

    It will be fixed soon, I can't tell you exactly when this will be fixed but I can assure you that you will get the update very soon to fix this bug.

    . . . . . .

    And once this is fixed you can change the DNS settings to default.

    Can I suggest that everybody that has this issue either raises a fault report or has a chat with Microsoft about it so that they understand what impact this is having on the Microsoft customer base.

    I too have this problem.

    I am in UK and on BT Broadband.

    Am reluctant to change mt routre settings to correct a MS fault.

    Please don't go there, it took me about 30 minutes to get something out of them.

    I only got it because I used to be a designer and fixer of global networks, one being the internet into the UK so they could BS me.
