What were the steps? I just updated THREE computers and NONE of them are able to connect to Windows Update. I did an "in-place upgrade" on one of them and it did not resolve the problem. 

MESSAGE: "We couldn't connect to the update service. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're connected to the Internet."

UPDATE is KB4476976 (OS Build 17763.292)

And, yes, I am connected to the internet. This is very annoying. If it is an issue/bug (and it must be) how does MS plan on rolling out a fix if users cannot connect to Windows Update? I have tried all the known fixes out there (stop/start services related to WU, run various commands in an elevated command prompt, perform an in-place upgrade, you name it. Nothing works).

    Not working for me either in the UK.  I have tried all the solutions on the Microsoft web site and none of them have helped.  ISP is TalkTalk if that makes any difference...

    I tethered my laptop to my Tesco Mobile  smartphone and this connected and downloaded one virus definition update. When I disconnected this and reconnected to my BT hub, the update error does not occur anymore. Definitely a problem with either BT or MS somewhere.

    I have had exactly the same issue. After the aforementioned update on one of the laptops the Windows Update gives me the same error on 4 Win 10 machines.

    I have tried to do a fresh start install on one. Still getting the same error.

    Literally has wasted my whole weekend. 

    Well done MS Win 10 Updates. If they cause issues like this then they should not be released.

    Mr Gates, ive bought your products since the 90's and still have the upmost faith in them, your a philanthropist who puts millions of pounds into charity and has a will that (excuse the double en-tundra) will change the world im sure MS can afford to employ a few more techs or at least say we dont know whats going on,  its been nearly a week since people have been able to update there computers and i for one spent a **** load of money on your products because there better than anything else on the market, now as im sure you dont read these yourself but you have an assistant that does, and im pretty sure im wasting my time there too, i suppose im saying im **** off with this, workarounds, settings changes, troubleshooting, google DNS etc, etc and i know this dosnt actually help anyone but 6 days and bottle of Merlot just makes an even more pissed of Englishman! so to finsih Mr Gates, customer satisfaction or share prices? i think its fair to say your net worth isnt an issue anymore even if microsoft went into administration! (P.S. use your money to cure cancer! if you add more money to countries who have issues, its fuel to the fire!)

    apparently BT are aware of it as is microsoft, but neither of them want to take responsibility for the problem, i only have 3 pc's but for companys paying good money for things like this NOT to happen it take the piss to have change your DNS settings and 4-5 days of it and its not public is abit hard for the everyday person to accept, i guess money and **** talks!
