That sedlauncher.exe file is part of Windows 10 update KB4023057 for Windows 10 which is designed to improve the speed of Windows Update Service components in your machine

    Okay, so last night some crooks from Microsoft:

    -Hushed this thread further out of sight;

    -Force selected the official useless reply as the best solution;

    -and Gave that useless solution quite a few artificial helpful votes.

    In other words, we're not getting a fix. EVER.

    It's not the first time I hear that Micrsoft spyware  are responsible for frying  SSDs. I sslo noticed a second thing: whenever someone is running Win10 on a rather aging computer (I'm talking about age, not specs. I've seen one built frome 10+ years old components beating some currently sold at Costco.) the useless apps (sedlauncher, runtimebroker, compattel) seem to run on loop quite a lot more often. I'd like to remind you that Microsoft has priors why it comes to sabotaging user machines in order to force them to get a new one (remember Win 95 updating itself now and then to then refuse to launch with a message saying that this or that component was no longer supported, or MS pressuring gaming studios to add a line to newly released games to run an OS check and refuse to launch unless running Windows 95 even if the game was coded in Dos4WG).

    I can absolutely confirm this:

    My PC has 4x 3.2GHz (real, not just single core boost!), 2 SSD (one for OS other for often used User data) and a 10TB HDD (for backup and large files (Videos and Pictures). BUT it is close to 11 years old.

    There are times when the Ventilators go just wild (Ventilator less Mains units, just CPU and a Backup Ventilator if temperature increases over certain temp) since the CPUs are completely loaded ("nicely" during night when I want to sleep and I can hear it trough 3 Rooms away (doors can`t be closed because of cat). Even when you use it (i.e. with Libre Draw) it goes down to a crawl...

    Seriously consider going back to Win 7 before the support ends and run everything from there (but I do like some features on Win 10.... and I know that there will be the day that a number of software simply is no longer supported or the Internet is no longer accessible (at reasonable speed, like my trusty old EeePC... unusable now a days).

    I always  toyed with Linux, but since I have wife and kids that would not go with it, I probably can kick this idea as well...

    Hey, you know what else uses practically all of your resources without even notifying you, let alone asking you? Basically everything else in Windows 10. Not saying that you shouldn't delete it, just saying that just because it uses a ton of resources doesn't mean its malware of some sort. Still, check just to be safe whenever you see something you don't recognize that's doing that.
