I recently bought a Nokia Lumina 640 because i want to get some windows phone games for achievents. The first thing i try and download gives me this error.
I have searched and searched and i cant find a definitive answer on what the issue is and how to resolve it. It seems to be some error with my network, but what error? Is it a port thing? What ports does it need?
I did the steps the microsoft website suggests, which were to: manually change my time, manually sync my email, make sure to update my microsoft account, and finally, to reset my phone. None of that worked so i am looking for real answers.

This error usually comes up when there is a problem with the store on the Microsoft side. Usually the problem is resolved in a few days, please do not do anything with your phone, router or any other piece of equipment, no resets or reinstallations will make any difference and you may lose apps which are no longer available in the store. The solution can come only from MS and the only thing you can do is wait, no matter how frustrating it is.
Your Lumia 535 is eligible for upgrading to W10 Mobile which would be the quickest solution for you at present as the problem seems to affect only devices on WP8.1. Use the OTC Updater tool as explained further above.
Thanks man, this is interesting. I just have to see if I could load a 'default' firmware instead of the 'custom' one I have now then I should be good to go.
My glorious Lumia 630 (which I had to dispose of as its USB connector would refuse to work more often than not) received a couple of Windows 8.1 OTA upgrades so I thought that OTA upgrades were the norm.
As I haven't received any OTA upgrade for this phone (and having the phone a 'custom' firmware provided by the ISP as I said earlier), I thought that I couldn't update manually either.
I'll check and see if I could find a proper image for my Lumia 535 then. Thank you! :)
Yeah i made the switch over to iPhone and never looked back. Not one issue when using those phones. Sucks that my temporary phone is a lumia 635.
Another observation: the latest reviews on apps in the store are from November 30, 2018, suggesting that the store broke when we entered December month for some reason.
I am glad I decided to change to a different company for my phones. It was a headache when I was first using the windows phone and it is still a headache now that i have to use it temporarily. The windows phones simply do not work as they are supposed to. Clearly microsoft has abandoned the millions of windows phone users. I experienced something similar years ago when trying to ship my phone in for repairs but was told that it was not inder warranty, when it still was. So glad to not have to deal with these issues on the daily anymore.
