Lenovo 100s ideapad Bitlocker problem after Windows update Nov 2018.

My Lenovo 100s got a Microsoft update on 2/11/18. Since restarting I get the bitlocker blue screen asking me to enter the recovery. I never set one up, was never asked to set one up, so don't have one. Been backwards and forwards with Lenovo, who say they are working on the problem and have now said it is a problem for Microsoft to sort out. Contacted Microsoft who have said it is a hardware problem for Lenovo to sort. Please can someone just help to sort it out.

re the issue with Lenovo 100s and bit locker having been onto Lenovo and Microsoft to get issue resolved

first speaking with LENOVO they confirmed it is a Microsoft issue 100s Ideapad  DOES NOT HAVE TPM CHIP INSTALLED NOR IS THE HARD DRIVE PARTIONED  OR A SEPERATE BOOT OPTION IF YOU READ MICROSOFT OWN CRITERIA  for bit locker to be enabled THE MACHINE NEEDS THESE also as bit locker is Microsoft

not LENOVO . Having now spoken to a Microsoft agent in the U S A he now agrees that it is their issue

having pointed out their own criteria for bitlocker  he agreed beyond his pay grade and would force it up the line

I pointed out also two days before the update KB4462919 within my Microsoft account where you are supposed

to find this key my setting was off it now shows on not changed by me so why cannot the Microsoft accounts be rest to off by default like the update did earlier in year .I have written in disgust to Microsoft AS THIS IS NOW THE SECOND TIME UPDATES HAVE CAUSED ISSUES WITH LAPTOPS WITHIN THE FAMILY AND WE NEED ANSWERI AGREE CORPARTIONS NEED BIT LOCKER I DONT

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Are you using a Local Account or a Microsoft Account?

This issue is usually not caused by a Windows Update but rather a BIOS/Firmware update delivered through Windows Update or other OEM Channel.

Try the below steps and see if this helps.

Before trying the below steps, you may want to Find your BitLocker Recovery Key.

It might be that the Secure Boot has been disabled and some BIOS updates have caused this to happen, so follow the below steps and toggle the UEFI Secure Boot in BIOS.

NOTE: Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.

Step 1: Restart your computer and look for a message on the boot screen just before or after the manufacturer logo appears and press the Fn + F2 keys from your keyboard to enter the BIOS Settings.

Note: The key to enter the BIOS Settings varies, so I would suggest you to refer the manufacturers manual to look for the correct key.

Step 3: Inside the BIOS Settings, look for a tab called Boot and select that page.

Note: Depending on the BIOS manufacturer, this page could be Boot, Advanced, Startup, etc.

Step 4: Inside the Boot tab, look for a setting for UEFI Secure Boot and toggle the Secure Boot Setting to Enabled and attempt to restart the computer and check for the issue.

Note: Each BIOS could have a different name for this. These are the keywords to look for: UEFI, Secure Boot, Legacy Boot.

    Hope it helps.

Hi Shafeeq, I came across your post and would kindly request your help in a related problem on my Lenovo 100S Laptop. In short, my Lenovo ended up in the blue screen Bit Key Recovery Enter Screen. I have the Bit Key Code but the entry field for the Bit Key Code will not respond to my keyboard entry of the numeric code, regardless of what key I push on the keyboard. Please note I know the keyboard works. Please help as I have been trying to solve this was days and days. Thanks Anthony

    Hi Shafeeq

This is what Lenovo have to say about it.

"However, until bitlocker is a piece of software developed by Microsoft and it seems that since they are such a large company that it has not been made clear to all of their representatives that it is their issue. Since BIOS is also software, if we could bypass Bitlocker with a BIOS update we would - but that's exactly what bitlocker was designed to prevent. From my understanding, Microsoft do not yet have a fix for the Lenovo IdeaPad 100, however, since they have provided fixes for a couple of other companies computers in the past weeks I am hoping they are working on it."
