Lenovo 100s ideapad Bitlocker problem after Windows update Nov 2018.

My Lenovo 100s got a Microsoft update on 2/11/18. Since restarting I get the bitlocker blue screen asking me to enter the recovery. I never set one up, was never asked to set one up, so don't have one. Been backwards and forwards with Lenovo, who say they are working on the problem and have now said it is a problem for Microsoft to sort out. Contacted Microsoft who have said it is a hardware problem for Lenovo to sort. Please can someone just help to sort it out.

re the issue with Lenovo 100s and bit locker having been onto Lenovo and Microsoft to get issue resolved

first speaking with LENOVO they confirmed it is a Microsoft issue 100s Ideapad  DOES NOT HAVE TPM CHIP INSTALLED NOR IS THE HARD DRIVE PARTIONED  OR A SEPERATE BOOT OPTION IF YOU READ MICROSOFT OWN CRITERIA  for bit locker to be enabled THE MACHINE NEEDS THESE also as bit locker is Microsoft

not LENOVO . Having now spoken to a Microsoft agent in the U S A he now agrees that it is their issue

having pointed out their own criteria for bitlocker  he agreed beyond his pay grade and would force it up the line

I pointed out also two days before the update KB4462919 within my Microsoft account where you are supposed

to find this key my setting was off it now shows on not changed by me so why cannot the Microsoft accounts be rest to off by default like the update did earlier in year .I have written in disgust to Microsoft AS THIS IS NOW THE SECOND TIME UPDATES HAVE CAUSED ISSUES WITH LAPTOPS WITHIN THE FAMILY AND WE NEED ANSWERI AGREE CORPARTIONS NEED BIT LOCKER I DONT

    hi PAULW656

it cannot be the motherboard as the drive is locked via the Microsoft account setting I agree that  the drive and  TpM  module are all part of the motherboard ie soldered on but when I spoke to LENOVO they said even if you changed the whole motherboard the issue would still be there

points again like I said to our accounts plus even if they come up with an update unless it gives you a fully bootable option  which we don't have

AND IF WITH UPDATES FROM MICROSOFT CAN TURN OFF AND ON  BITLOCKER  AND EVEN STOP PEOPLE DOING A  A LARGE UPDATE WHICH IS BIGGER THAN YOUR WHOLE HARD DRIVE  WE DO NOT STAND A CHANCE

    Hi.

    Latest reply

    "Thank you for contacting Lenovo,

I am very sorry but unfortunately we still do not have a solution for the Bitlocker issue. We are still working alongside Microsoft to solve this problem"

Thanked them and said will contact the again later this week. I agree with you, we have to keep on at them otherwise nothing will get done.

    Hi RamzanParmaksiz.

I have been waiting for close on to 2 months now. I contact Lenovo every week and still get the reply that they are working on it. According to Lenovo it's not the disc that is locked, it is the mother board, so changing the disc will make no difference.

The best thing (and only thing) I can suggest is that everyone having this problem contacts Lenovo and Microsoft once a week. Keep contacting them until it is sorted. If they don't keep hearing from people they will just let the problem 'go away'

Sorry I don't have any better news.

    Paul

    hi RamazanParmaksiz

I think this will be a waiting game for MICROSOFT AND LENOVO for them to sort the issue out nothing we can do until they work it out

basically  they are blaming each other and I have been told by both they are trying to sort it out .

there are other makes of laptop that are having the same issue this came about after an update from MICROSOFT SWITCHED ON BIT LOCKER

on these machines LENOVO at this stage don t even know how this can even happen but it would appear MICROSOFT reversed an earlier update

which turned BIT LOCKER OFF as you will see if you log into your MICROSOFT ACCOUNT you cannot change it to off

if you have read the posts in the community you will see where we are will not hurt if you email or report it to both companies the more that push the better chance we might have of getting our data back
