Lenovo 100s ideapad Bitlocker problem after Windows update Nov 2018.

My Lenovo 100s got a Microsoft update on 2/11/18. Since restarting I get the bitlocker blue screen asking me to enter the recovery. I never set one up, was never asked to set one up, so don't have one. Been backwards and forwards with Lenovo, who say they are working on the problem and have now said it is a problem for Microsoft to sort out. Contacted Microsoft who have said it is a hardware problem for Lenovo to sort. Please can someone just help to sort it out.

Thank you for replying.

As the BitLocker is an ongoing issue for many users, I suggest you to boot Windows from a USB, backup the user data, and completely reinstall Windows 10 and restore them once you reinstall Windows 10.

Note: Please note that you will lose all your applications; however, you can save your user data like documents, pictures, videos, photos, etc., onto your USB.

So, follow the below steps to back up the user data from your computer onto a USB using Command Prompt.

Before following the below steps, make sure you have 2 USB drives, one to create Windows 10 bootable media (you need at least 8 GB) and another USB to back up the user data. The second USB space should be more depending on the data that you have on your computer.

Step 1:

Create Windows 10 bootable USB by following How to create Windows 10 installation DVD/USB flash drive Step-by-Step Guide.

Step 2:

Once you create bootable USB, plug the USB to your computer and boot from the USB by following Boot From USB. In this link, follow the steps until you get the Install now screen and click on Repair your computer.

Step 3:

Once you click on Repair your computer and on the Choose an option screen, click on Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.

Step 4:

Once the Command Prompt is up and running, type notepad in the Command Prompt and Notepad will be launched, so at this point, plug in the second USB, where you want to copy and paste the user data from your computer to the USB (you can toggle the Command Prompt and Notepad by pressing the Alt and the Tab key from your keyboard).

Step 5:

Again, toggle to Command Prompt and type notepad again (at this point, there will be 2 notepad windows and 1 Command Prompt window).

Step 6:

So, toggle to either of Notepad's and click on File > Open. Then, locate to the folder, where the user data is and copy the folder by pressing the Ctrl and the C key from your keyboard (you will be able to copy only one file/folder at a time).

Step 7:

Once you copy a file/folder, toggle to other Notepad and click on File > Open. Then, open your second USB and paste the file/folder that you copied by pressing the Ctrl and the V key from your keyboard (you will not see the user interface while the copy and pasting is going on, you need to check the size of the USB drive, whether it is filling up and it will take a lot of time to copy and paste the data, so please don’t unplug or turn off the computer, while the progress is going on).

Step 8:

Do the same thing for all the files and folders that you want to copy and paste onto your USB drive.

Step 9:

Once you are done with this, unplug the second USB, where your user data is saved now and follow Clean Install Windows 10 to do a Clean Installation of Windows 10.

Three of us all with the same issue have tried the Lenovo work round has not worked for any off us and we all checked what each other did to the LETTER

when you drain your battery keep restarting and you should finish up with no start up lights coming on leave it for about wo hours then try start up if you get no lights I assume battery now drained this took me 6 hours
